4.4: Candidates design instruction that incorporates students’ home and community languages to enable skillful control over their rhetorical choices and language practices for a variety of audiences and purposes.

 

Reflection:

 

Students should be able to learn in the context of their own dialect whenever possible. However, students should understand the limitations of the language system and how mastery of Edited American English can be advantageous to them. Please see standard 2.1 for examples.
