5.3
5.3: Candidates differentiate instruction based on students’ self-assessments and formal and informal assessments of learning in English language arts; candidates communicate with students about their performance in ways that actively involve them in their own learning.
Reflection:
Students were able to advocate for themselves from the first day, this was made clear to them. During the Night Memorial project that wrapped up our unit, students self-evaluated themselves as well as made a presentation to ensure my understanding of their project in relation to symbolism. Grade sheets were passed back often, and conferences were held before the end of each marking period to discuss performance with students. Below is a copy of the Memorial project.
